A 3-hour live inquiry workshop on February 18th, 2026 9am-Noon PT/ Noon-3pm ET/ 6-9pm CET
The less you ask them to change, the more freedom you'll feel.
Wait...isn't this a little backward?
But here's what I've discovered after 30+ years as a licensed therapist and coach:
The wishing is the problem.
When you're lying awake at 3am wishing your mother would finally approve of you...
When you're replaying that conversation for the hundredth time, wishing your sibling would acknowledge what they did...
When you're scrolling their social media, wishing your ex would see their part...
When you're dreading the next family gathering, wishing your father would stop being critical...
You're living in a mental prison. And they're not even in the cell with you.
It's not your mother, your ex, your sibling, your boss, or your friend causing your suffering.
It's the thoughts you're believing about them.
"She should respect me."
"He ruined my life."
"They owe me an apology."
"I'll never get over this."
"If only they would change, I could finally be happy."
Every time you believe one of these thoughts, you hand your peace over to someone who may be thousands of miles away—or who might not even be alive anymore.
And as long as your peace depends on THEM changing?
You'll stay stuck in the endless loop of frustration, resentment, and pain.
What if you could experience complete relief from that painful relationship without:
❌ Them ever changing
❌ Them apologizing or acknowledging what happened
❌ Having "the conversation" you've been dreading
❌ Setting better boundaries
❌ Years of therapy unpacking your childhood
❌ Forcing yourself to forgive
❌ Cutting them out of your life
What if the key to your freedom has been inside you all along?
Inquiry is the practice of questioning your stressful thoughts—not to make them go away, not to talk yourself out of them, but to genuinely investigate whether they're actually true.
When you take a thought like "She should respect me" and question it deeply, something shifts. The grip loosens. The story loses its power. You discover that what you were absolutely certain was true... might not be.
And in that discovery lies your freedom.
This isn't positive thinking. You're not trying to convince yourself everything is fine.
This isn't spiritual bypassing. You're not pretending you weren't hurt.
This is radical honesty about what's actually causing your pain—and it's not what you think.
This workshop is for you if there's one person who occupies way too much mental real estate:
You don't need to stay stuck in this. And you don't need them to change for you to be free.
This is a live, experiential 3-hour workshop where you'll:
Choose one relationship you want to understand better and one specific situation that caused pain. I'll guide you through writing what's called a "Judge Your Neighbor worksheet"—a simple process for getting your unedited, raw thoughts onto paper.
(If you're not sure where to start, I'll share what my teacher Byron Katie often says: "Go back to father, mother, sister, brother"—those core, original relationships where our patterns were formed.)
Together, we'll take one of your beliefs through a four-question inquiry process:
These aren't rhetorical questions. They're genuine invitations to investigate your own mind.
This is where the magic happens. You'll find "turnarounds"—opposite or different ways of looking at the situation that are often MORE true than your original thought. This isn't about making the other person right and you wrong. It's about discovering what's actually been true all along.
By the end of our time together, you'll feel a palpable shift—relief, clarity, understanding. And you'll know exactly how to continue this practice on your own.
You don't need to know anything about inquiry or self-development to benefit from this workshop. I'll guide you through every single step.
This is experiential, not theoretical. You'll actually DO the inquiry on your own real situation. Everyone participates by answering the questions I facilitate. You're welcome to keep your camera off and listen if that feels safer.
All you need is pen, paper, and an open mind. I'll provide everything else.
You'll have the replay if you can't attend live or want to experience the inquiry again.
"I got so much more out of it than I expected and really feel like it has helped me to move on. It has given me the basic tools that I need to question my own thinking and assumptions and to let stuff go in a way that really does serve my highest potential. It also helped me to act on certain things that I did not have the courage to before. Sometimes doing this is harder than staying in that place of resentment and inaction. I guess the pain is sometimes inevitable but we have to try and reduce the suffering which IS optional. Thank you for all the pearls of wisdom and for showing me another way. I am very grateful to you and all the amazing people in the workshop who dared to question and share so openly."
"I love how calming you are Grace. Your ability to translate what we were thinking and rephrase concepts to be more accurate was very helpful and allowed me to dive into the work in an accurate way. I now know that is one thing that has held me back (the thoughts I wrote down were too broad). Thank you, thank you."

I offer these workshops once a month because I've seen what becomes possible when people question their stressful thoughts about relationships.
The person who's been "the problem" in your life? They might become your greatest teacher.
The relationship that's been hell? It might become your portal to heaven.
Not because they change. Not because they finally see the light or apologize or do what you've been wishing they'd do.
But because you discover that your freedom never depended on them in the first place.
This is an invitation to question what you think you know about that one person—and to discover the peace that's been waiting all along.
With love,

Meditate on all four questions, then find turnarounds, and examples for each turnaround. This process takes focus, an open heart, and stillness. Your examples for each turnaround will reveal new realities to you. Allow them, as they are shown to you, to settle into your awareness, realities you may not have been aware of, they will wake you up one by one and enlighten you, show you a much kinder world. With all the love in my heart, I invite you to meet that world that is living right here, right now, right under your nose, just four questions (and your answers to them) away.." ~ Byron Katie

Why work with Grace?
Since 2005, what I've noticed about my students as well as my own personal inquiry life, is that so much can be discovered when it comes to telling our stories. To question and shift our thoughts about friends when it has gone "wrong" can altar for the best your perception of life.
Grace Bell, Long-Time Facilitator of The Work (received certification in The Work in 2007)

Doing The Work on any and all relationships has brought the greatest freedom to my life.
Let's do The Work, for freedom.
Is This Workshop Right For You?
Q: I've never done The Work before. Can I still participate?
Yes, absolutely! This workshop is designed for both beginners and those with experience. We'll cover the basics of The Work's four questions and turnarounds as we move through the process, ensuring everyone has the foundation needed to engage. I'll guide you every step of the way. Coming with a "Beginners Mind" is actually wonderful.
Q: Is this workshop too basic for my situation? Work is powerful precisely because it meets you where you are. Many participants with deeply challenging experiences with the body have experienced significant shifts. The simplicity of the process allows it to work with even the most complex situations.
Q: Do I need to share personal details?
No. While voluntary sharing can enhance the experience, you can participate fully by working with your thoughts privately. The workshop is structured to respect everyone's comfort level with disclosure. You can attend with camera off (although you are encouraged to have it on for connection) and everyone will be muted unless you want to share.
Q: What technical requirements do I need for the Zoom meeting?
You'll need a device with internet connection, a webcam, and microphone. A quiet, private space is recommended. The Zoom link will be sent to you after registration, along with simple instructions for joining if you're new to the platform. It is also possible to dial in with your phone.
Q: Will the session be recorded?
Yes, the workshop will be recorded and available to participants afterward. This allows you to revisit the material or catch up if you miss any portion. Your privacy is important—sharing of the recording outside the participant group is not permitted.
Q: Can I get individual attention during the workshop?
While this is a group workshop, there will be opportunities for individual guidance if you raise your hand. We'll have at least one volunteer demonstration of The Work during the session, and possible breakout rooms for a paired exercise with support available.
Q: I'm concerned about emotional overwhelm. Is this workshop safe?
The Work is designed to be a gentle process of self-inquiry, not an emotional catharsis. Grace creates a contained, supportive environment. However, if you're currently in acute emotional distress or crisis, individual sessions might fit better for you before attending a group workshop.
Q: I have one last question--how can I contact you?
You can always schedule a short 15 minute complimentary session with Grace to meet her and see if the workshop fits for you. Write grace@workwithgrace.com if you'd prefer to email. Visit https://calendly.com/work-with-grace/consult to book a short introductory appointment.
